Rap Name Generator

Pick a vibe and add your name if you want. This rap name generator shows 30 names at a time, with hundreds more after that.

Vibe

Sample names. Generate to get your own list.

  • MC Granite
  • Dynamo Supreme
  • Yung Ruckus
  • Easy Velour
  • Yung Glide
  • OG Melody
  • Funky Sprinkles
  • Waffles Jr.
  • Yung Pogo
  • Shadow Nova
  • OG Specter
  • Lunar Mirage

How it works

  1. Add your name, or skip it

Type a first name, nickname or full name, and some of the results will use it. Leave it empty to get regular names only.

  2. Pick a vibe

Hard, Smooth, Playful or Mysterious. Each vibe has its own word list: Hard uses words like Concrete and Anvil, Mysterious uses words like Omen and Eclipse.

  3. Star the ones you like

Press “Generate rap names” to get 30 names. “Show 30 more” loads the next batch, the star saves a name, and “Start over” gives you a fresh list.

What you get

A long list of rapper names to compare side by side.

  • Four kinds of names. A prefix and a word (Lil, Young, Big, MC, Yung, OG), an adjective and a word, one blended word like Stonegrit, or a word with an ending like Supreme, Jr. or After Dark.
  • Hundreds per vibe. You see 30 at a time, so the list stays easy to read.
  • Names built from yours. Type “Marcus Reed” and pick Hard, and names like Iron Marcus, Marcus Unchained and M.R. Granite show up in the list.
  • A saved list. Starred names collect below the results. Tap a saved name to remove it. The list is stored in this browser only, so it won't show up on another phone or computer.

It's free and needs no account. The tool doesn't check whether someone already uses a name, so look it up before you commit to it.

Examples

One sample set per vibe, taken from the generator. Your list will come in a different order.

Vibe: Hard
  • Cold Concrete
  • Iron Anvil
  • Riot Unchained
  • Grim Havoc
  • OG Torque
  • Stonegrit

Short, blunt words with hard sounds. They suit a heavy beat, and nobody expects a love song from “Grim Havoc”.

Vibe: Smooth
  • Velvet Sway
  • Midnight Groove
  • Cashmere After Dark
  • Young Velour
  • Silkglide
  • Golden Tempo

Soft sounds and long vowels. They suit slow songs, sung hooks and late-night beats.

Vibe: Playful
  • Funky Noodle
  • Waffles the Third
  • Kazoo Jr.
  • Sneaky Pretzel
  • Big Sprinkles
  • Goofymuffin

Silly on purpose. A funny name is easy to remember and fits comedy raps and party songs.

Vibe: Mysterious
  • Silent Omen
  • Phantom Cipher
  • Raven After Hours
  • MC Eclipse
  • Lunar Nocturne
  • Wraith Zero

Dark and a little vague, so listeners fill in the story. They suit moody beats and a low-key image.

How to choose a rap name that lasts

  • Say it out loud over a beat. Try it as an intro (“It’s Silent Omen”) and as a quick shout between lines. If it's hard to say now, it will be hard to say on every track.
  • Search it first. Look the name up online and on the music apps where you plan to release. If another artist or a big brand already uses it, pick another one. Sharing a name makes you hard to find.
  • Check the usernames. See if the name is free on the social apps you use. If it's taken, add the same small word everywhere, like “music”, instead of a different spelling on each app.
  • Make it easy to spell. Someone who hears your name once at a show should be able to search for it. Swapped letters, silent letters and extra Zs look cool on a cover but make you hard to find.
  • Think five years ahead. A name that's funny at 17 can feel awkward at 25. Pick one that still fits if your music gets darker, more personal or more melodic.

FAQ

Is the rap name generator free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no email and no limit on how many names you generate.

How many names can I get?

30 at a time. Press "Show 30 more" to keep going until the vibe runs out. Each vibe has hundreds of names, and adding your own name gives you more.

Are the names unique?

No. The names come from fixed word lists, so other people can get the same ones, and the tool doesn't check whether someone already uses a name. Search a name before you put it on a release or a profile.

What happens when I add my own name?

Your first name gets mixed with prefixes, adjectives and endings, and your initials go in front of the vibe's words. On Hard, "Marcus Reed" can give you Young Marcus, Cold Marcus, Marcus Supreme or M.R. Concrete. Regular names for that vibe still show up too.

Where do my starred names go?

To a saved list below the results, stored in this browser only. They'll still be there next time on the same device, but clearing your browser data deletes them, so copy your favorites somewhere safe.

Which vibe should I start with?

The one closest to the music you make. You can switch vibes and generate again any time, and your saved names stay.
